Clare Looske stumbled her way back to Edward Quinny, finally bringing some cold, damp cloths with her. She hurriedly placed the cloth on Edward's forehead to cool him down, but she had forgotten about the wound there. The salty seawater seeped into the cut, causing Edward to wince in pain as he opened his eyes, looking bewildered at Clare. He weakly joked, "Honey, are you trying to kill me? Don't you know there's salt in seawater?"
