I knew I shouldn't get too involved in the Lapwood family's business, but I'd promised Mrs. Lapwood I'd help. Plus, Brittany is my friend, so I'm on her side. 

I didn't say yes or no. I just said, "I've got my plans. I'll show up immediately if Mrs. Lapwood or Brittany needs me."

"Let me be clear. Brittany and I are just friends. You're overthinking it."

"If there's nothing else, I should be going."

I'll be there anytime if the Lapwood family ever needs my help.
